Quantum Leap Buzz review

Twitter is a great way to learn a little bit of information about a whole lot of subjects. But if you're looking to dig deeper into a certain subject area, the micro-blogging service can seem overwhelming. Unless you have Quantum Leap Buzz, that is. This application uses "Pattern Based Analytics" to help you identify and analyse trends on Twitter. Quantum Leap Buzz is currently available in a free Consumer Version. The company hopes the free version will introduce folks to the concept of pattern-based analytics, and entice business people to upgrade to the $495 business edition, which will be released next month.

OnLive Desktop: Office on the iPad review

Demos, like appearances, can be deceiving. At the recent Consumer Electronics Show, one of the media hits was OnLive Desktop, a service that provisions a Windows 7 desktop environment that includes Microsoft Office 2010 to the iPad over an Internet connection. For many, the idea of being able to run the full Office suite is very appealing, given some of the limitations of the iPad's native office productivity tools such as Apple iWork suite (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers), Quickoffice, and Documents to Go.

I think we all know Dropbox by now. This cloud-based storage service pioneered the personal IaaS cloud service. Unlike the other cloud systems, Dropbox doesn't need a web browser interface. It will run natively on almost any PC (including Linux) or device platform.

Cloud9 IDE review

JavaScript is one of the most common scripting languages in the world. In fact, you're almost certainly using it right now, even if you're unaware of the fact. Every modern desktop and mobile Web browser supports JavaScript, and it's used in just about every current website. Cloud9 IDE is a Web-based development environment aimed at making it easier to develop JavaScript-based Web applications. It lives in the cloud, so you need only a Web browser to use it.

Microsoft Outlook Social Connector review

Email once ruled as the supreme commander of computer-based communications, the fastest and most effective way for people to exchange messages and information. That's no longer the case. For better or worse, social networking services such as Facebook increasingly seem to be supplanting them.

Red Hat OpenShift review

Red Hat was never content to be just a collection of Linux tools. Its new foray into the cloud, called OpenShift, offers a quick way to deploy Java, Python, PHP or Ruby apps to a collection of machines waiting to accept them.
