The Buffalo LinkTheatre LTV100 is a small, Full HD-capable media streaming device with basic functions. It's capable of playing files from attached USB storage devices, as well as from media servers and shared resources on your home network. However, its interface doesn't do a good job of sorting content and you can't watch YouTube videos or stream online music, unlike some other streamers at the same price point.

The Pioneer BDP-430 is a Blu-ray disc player that can play 3D movies as well as normal 2D content with aplomb, and YouTube access will be offered via a future firmware update. Sadly its Internet-based features are limited when compared to media powerhouses like the Samsung BD-C6900 and Sony BDP-S470.

We’ve seen something of an explosion in the home media streaming market in the last year or so. Low power and low price Realtek chipsets have brought high definition media on the television within range of the average home user. While home theatre PCs have a greater range of features than the best media streamer, they tend to be far more expensive and power hungry.
