It's always nice when PC makers cram above-average components into budget-friendly, space-saving, energy-efficient machines. This is not one of those machines, however. The Lenovo C325 all-in-one PC costs £449, but this is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for."

Among built-to-order gaming PCs, Alienware is about as close as one gets to a household name, and the brand is largely synonymous with huge black boxes covered in garish blinking lights. The new Alienware X51 ($999 as configured, as of February 3, 2012) is a marked departure from that routine, cutting both costs and girth to deliver a machine that's palatable to the masses but doesn't lose any of that gamer cred.

Trying to dig up a low-cost, all-in-one, business-class desktop system that doesn't stink is a bit like trying to find the magic lamp in the cave: A daunting proposition, to say the least. And HP's Compaq 8200 Elite all-in-one desktop doesn't make the adventure seem any easier. It's fast - one of the fastest all-in-one desktops we've tested. But it doesn't offer much else for its price tag of around £650. If you don't mind a slight drop in speeds, other business-class AIOs give a bit more bang for your money.

My, how far Budget desktops have come. While Lenovo's orange-accented H330 is definitely "budget" - it starts at just £399.99 - it packs some impressive specs, including an i5 processor, a Blu-ray disc drive, and a 1TB hard drive. Plus, it performs like a lower-end non-budget desktop.

The HP TouchSmart 620 3D is HP's first foray into 3D all-in-one territory--and, well, it could use some work. While the specs are decent (it has an i5 processor and an AMD Radeon graphics card), 3D playback is less than stellar. It has a funky webcam that lets you take both photos and video in 3D, though, and the system comes with a 3D Blu-ray drive and bundled 3D glasses to ensure a full 3D experience.
