TelyHD review

Although Skype video chat has become a popular tool for people seeking face-time communication on computers, the webcams on PCs don't really lend themselves to group chat- - if you've ever tried to crowd several family members around a PC, you know it's tough to get everyone in the frame. The TelyHD from Tely Labs addresses the search for family-friendly videoconferencing with a Skype-enabled, Android-based network device that doesn't use a PC at all: Instead, it takes advantage of your HDTV's big screen and bundles a webcam (with a microphone and speaker) that can capture high-definition images of several people seated on a living-room sofa.

Casio Exilim EX-ZR100 review

A member of the relatively new breed of pocket megazoom cameras, the 12-megapixel, 12.5X-optical-zoom Casio Exilim EX-ZR100 offers manual controls for advanced users who want to stretch their photographic skills. But it's also for novices, thanks to extensive automatic shooting options that make capturing snapshots easy.

Casio TRYX review

If you've heard of the Casio Tryx it's most likely due to the camera's innovative, twistable design. The Tryx was one of the most intriguing announcements of 2011, with a shape shifting body that can be used as a tripod, hung on a hook, adjusted to allow for a camcorder-like grip, and tilted to make shooting overhead and low angle shots much easier.

Olympus XZ-1 review

The Olympus XZ-1 is positively fun to use. It's one of those cameras that makes you want to go out and take photos. A lot of that has to do with its size, which is compact, yet despite its small dimensions it also contains relatively easy to use manual controls. It's reminiscent of the Canon PowerShot S95, and it definitely gives it good competition when it comes to ease of use and image quality.

Nikon Coolpix P500 review

With its 36X optical zoom, the Nikon Coolpix P500 is the current ruler of the megazoom world. At 35X, only the Canon PowerShot SX30 is in close pursuit, but the SX30's 24mm wide angle specification is no match for the P500's superwide 22.5mm lens, a feat that has yet to be equalled by any other non-interchangeable-lens camera. The P500 is no slouch at full zoom either, reaching a highly impressive image-stabilised 810mm.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V review

You'd be hard-pressed to find a camera that offers more features than the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V ($350 as of June 1, 2011). Two years ago, its 16X-optical-zoom lens would have been enough to turn heads. In today's world of ever-shrinking cameras with ever-expanding zoom ranges, that zoom lens is simply one of this camera's many distinguishing factors.

Canon PowerShot Elph 500 HS review

If the idea of an almost-all-touchscreen camera appeals to you, the Canon PowerShot Elph 500 HS is one of the best point and shoot options in that class. But it's becoming clear that touchscreen-operated cameras are a significantly different beast than traditional cameras with similar specs. Because of its touchscreen, this camera acts more like a phone than a more traditional camera, and that brings its fair share of pros and cons.
